Don’t Rely On Tenants To Transfer Utility Services

Don’t be lied to by your new tenant and risk the chance of ending up with a huge pile of unexpected bills just because they did’nt bother to transfer the council tax, water, electricity and gas bills over to their name

Learn how to avoid this by following these simple steps…
  1. Make a note of all meter readings when your old tenant moves out and ask them for their new address

  2. If any demand letters are sent after your tenant has gone then at least you can forward these onto them at their new address.

  3. When your new tenant moves in make a note of all meter readings and supply numbers.

  4. Inform all the utility suppliers by sending them details of the changes by post.

  5. Follow up a week or so later with all utility suppliers to make sure they have all been transferred over to your new tenant.

Remember to switch all the necessary bills over as soon as your tenant moves in or even a few days before.

Otherwise you could find yourself with some unexpected bills!
